Canadian Online Brands Licensed In The UK

The Montreal based Canadian online gambling company Amaya Gaming Group Inc. is expanding its control in many parts of the world. However, players from Canada will have to wait for legalization and regulation of online gambling in their own country before they can try out the various product lines from Amaya. The latest news about Amaya comes from the United Kingdom.

Amaya Gaming has announced that its online poker brands PokerStars and Full Tilt have obtained a continuation license from the UK Gambling Commission to allow uninterrupted service to consumers and business customers in the United Kingdom. This continuation was awarded based on the existing licenses held in the Isle of Man. So far PokerStars and Full Tilt have operated in the United Kingdom as a "white-listed" company approved to do business throughout the country on the basis of the Isle of Man license. But under the new online gambling laws in the United Kingdom, licenses are required from the Gambling Commission. Amaya also offers B2B online business services to UK-facing online gaming operators. These include Amaya's online gaming content and technology. Amaya has received the continuation license for these as well.

The new PokerStars and Full Tilt UK web sites have gone live on November 3. The log-in details, account balance and history of the players will not be affected by the change. But there are some new features. PokerStars and Full Tilt have volunteered to apply the very highest standards of player fund protection. These use independent trust accounts. The UK Gambling Commission is a strict regulatory authority. That PokerStars and Full Tilt online poker rooms have received licenses from it underscores the fact that players can rely on the integrity and security of the sites. Poker has gained popularity in the United Kingdom. Some of the leading players from the country represent the Amaya Gaming poker rooms. Prominent among them is Team PokerStars Pro Victoria Coren Mitchell, the first two-time winner of the European Poker Tour.

With the UK continuation license, PokerStars and Full Tilt are now licensed by 12 local jurisdictions, which include major European nations like France, Italy and Spain. Amaya Gaming controls PokerStars and Full Tilt through its ownership of the Rational Group. Apart from these two online poker rooms, the Rational Group owns and operates related businesses and brands like the European Poker Tour, PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, Latin American Poker Tour and the Asia Pacific Poker Tour.
