Casino Bonuses - The Wagering Requirement

The atmosphere that surrounds the online gaming industry is competitive enough that these operations have to do something to attract your business. So what do they do?

Well, they offer bonuses to sign up and open an account.

There are a lot of bonuses out there, and they come from a lot of different angles. Consequently, there may be some confusion as to which of them are worthwhile. Perhaps this is something we can help with.

It would seem obvious that the more money is offered in a bonus, the more attention it deserves. That's not always the case, because one driver here is the "wagering requirement" that is needed on your part to cash that bonus and what it entails.

For example, let's say that a casino is offering a 100% bonus that is good up to $100. That means if you ultimately want to receive $100 in your bonus, you are going to have to deposit $100. Then, you'll have to place a multiple of the deposit PLUS bonus into action. In this case, that would be $200 times whatever the wagering requirement is.

If the requirement is 25x, that means you'll have to put $5000 into action, which is 25 times the deposit plus bonus ($200). Understand that putting $5000 into action does not mean that you have to deposit $5000, nor does it mean that you have to lose $5000. Rather, this reflects the cumulative amount of your wagers. If you bet $50 a hundred times at a blackjack table, for instance, you will have put $5000 into action.

Most people don't bet $50 a hand, or on a spin of the slot reels. So you can imagine that at a $5 rate, you're looking at a lot more in the way of wagers. Of course, things happen rather quickly in a casino, and you are going to have a lot of back and forth, depended on what game you play, so that wagering requirement might be met before you know it, and it could be relatively painless.

When you meet the wagering requirement, the bonus gets credited to your account. And naturally, this will give you more money to play with. So you might say that the accumulation of this money, together with the yield from your actual play, needs to stay ahead of your losses in order for you to come out with a profit.

It's pretty much as simple as that!
