PlayNow Online And Paddy Power Extend Contract

British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) operated web site PlayNow has announced last week that it has renewed the contract with Paddy Power. For strategic and legal reasons Paddy Power does not accept Canadian players outside of British Columbia.

The initial agreement between PlayNow and Paddy Power went into effect in 2012, when the Irish online gambling operator began to provide B2B services. These included risk management, event management and, most importantly, fixed odds sports betting, both futures and in play. Monica Bohm, BCLC Vice-President of eGaming, indicated that she was very pleased with the way the interaction has turned out so far. She said, “Paddy Power’s expertise has helped BCLC’s PlayNow.com evolve its sportsbook into a competitive offering that provides the best possible sports betting experience in a regulated environment.” Speaking about the extension of the contract, she added, “We look forward to continuing this relationship and future growth in this segment.” Market reports indicate that PlayNow operates the most advanced and fastest growing online sportsbook in Canada.

Head of Paddy Power B2B Services Cian Murphy echoed similar sentiments. He said, “The Paddy Power sports product is among the most advanced in the world and the growth BCLC has seen over the last three years has been considerable. We are proud to have been part of that and are looking forward to continuing to work with BCLC over the coming years.” Paddy Power has become the second largest online gaming company in the world after its recent merger with Betfair. It offers B2B services to partners in France and Spain and this could be an added reason for PlayNow to continue working with Paddy Power.

The PlayNow sports book, with Paddy Power backing, focuses on Canadian sports. Two of the most popular markets over the years have been the National Hockey League and the Canadian Football League. At present the market for the Rugby World Cup is very hot. Though Canada is one of the competing nations the odds of it winning at PlayNow have been posted at 500.00. One of the reasons that PlayNow chose Paddy Power was because of the latter’s section of Entertainment Bets, which roped in a clientele not into sports.
