Scientific Gaming Aces Alberta Casino Deal

Normally it is the online gaming portals sponsored by the Canadian provinces that are in the news. But recently the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) announced a major initiative with the Scientific Games Corporation. This involves replacing the currently used systems in all 28 Alberta land casinos with Scientific Games developed Bally systems.

The announcement was jointly made by Bill Robinson, President of the Lottery and Gaming Services for the AGLC, and Niaz Nejad, Vice-President. They explained that Bally systems had been selected after an extensive process in which the advantages and disadvantages of several gaming systems were evaluated. The objective was to select the system best suited for Alberta's casinos. The Bally system came out tops in this review process and was chosen to replace the existing slot accounting system. Robinson said that Bally was an innovative system that included tools for providing players with a better gaming experience and also facilitating operators with information that will nurture future growth. The Bally system will hook up over 14,000 slot machines. Robinson added that this agreement was another big step in their progress towards modernization of Alberta’s casinos.

The AGLC gave out further details of the agreement. It would also implement several of the Bally systems hardware solutions as well. These include CMP and SDS systems, EBS bonusing, and the iVIEW DM player interface. EBS bonusing is one of the most popular Bally features. It can be used at casinos of all size casinos and it provides them with competitive and scalable slot-management marketing systems. The AGLC also announced that the first Alberta land-based casinos to fully integrate Bally systems will be the Grande Prairie Casino. It is the leading casino in Alberta. The AGLC also felt that this new move will take the focus away from the negative publicity that is being given to online gambling in the Canadian province.

Robert J. Parente, Chief Gaming Revenue Officer of Scientific Games also released a statement on this occasion. He averred that the company's selection confirmed its strategic focus on Canada, where operators are giving top priority to system technology and innovation. He also expressed satisfaction at having been selected by the AGLC to be the systems initiative solution provider. The reason for this selection is that Scientific Games is a global leader in the development of technology-based products and services for gaming, lottery and other types of various interactive markets.
